The PVMARS solar light with battery illuminates factory roads at night. Vehicle traffic was hampered by inadequate road lighting.
In this article, we will introduce a solar street light and battery design that can be connected to the city’s main power supply.
Background of the project:
This is a rice product factory located in Tanzania. They normally load and unload goods at night.
However, there is no light on the road where vehicles pass, which greatly increases truck drivers’ difficulty. They need to always pay attention to passers-by to avoid accidents.
The factory manager, Mr. Yohana, also discovered this situation, and explored several solutions to this problem with management, including installing traditional street lights.
Challenge:
However, when ordinary street lights are illuminated at night, they use 100% of the brightness of the light, which means that they will consume a lot of electricity, followed by an increase in electricity costs.
So they decided to give up the choice of traditional street lighting lamps, but they also have concerns about solar street lamps.
For example, due to the weather, if there is insufficient sunlight, will the insufficient power stored in the battery affect lighting at night?
With such doubts, they contacted several solar streetlight suppliers.
Among them, only PVMARS provided the most practical solution to meet their requirements.
Solution:
In the area where Mr. Yohana lives, the utility grid is relatively stable compared with other areas.
But the electricity bill is also high, so they want a 100-watt solar lamp to save electricity bills, but worry about the impact of insufficient sunlight on solar street lights.
PVMARS proposes a street light controller connected to the city’s grid. If the battery capacity and sunlight are insufficient, then use the city power grid last. This will ensure maximum cost-efficiency and bright light at night.
This solar light controller can change the problem of step-up and step-down.
Generally, a 100W street lamp is equipped with a 150W solar panel. The 150W solar panel is set to 24vDC, so two 12v gel batteries will be needed to connect (24v).
To save Mr. Yohana’s money, this solar street light controller can step down the 24vdc solar panel to 12v to charge the gel battery.
Meanwhile, it can be connected to the public utility grid at 220vac (other output AC voltages are available).
Regarding the transportation of solar lights and batteries, the usage:
Mr. Yohana was very satisfied with PVMARS’s proposal and ordered 60 solar street lights and a battery-complete system.
This includes 8m solar lampposts. It should be noted that pole cannot be spliced.
The entire 8m-long solar lamp post will be packed in the cabinet, so if you need to order light poles, you will need a 20ft or 40ft container for shipment.

When electrical equipment is shipped to Tanzania, a COC certificate is required to enter Tanzania customs.
Therefore, PVMARS sent the samples to the CCIC laboratory for testing before issuing the COC certificate shown in the figure below.
Mr. Yohana has started installing solar streetlights. The picture below shows their feedback and usage.

Adjustable brightright solar lights:
In fact, Mr. Yohana worries about insufficient sunlight, resulting in insufficient street lighting at night problem. PVMARS has another solution.
Our newly designed split solar street light now has adjustable brightness, which can be set with the PVMARS IOT app.
The light brightness is 100% from 6 pm to 10 pm in the evening, 50% from 10 pm to 2 pm, and 30% from 2 pm to 5 pm, etc.
It is possible to adjust at any time according to your current situation.
This can save battery energy consumption, but also ensure sufficient light at night.
In addition, PVMARS’s integrated all in one solar street light product also has a built-in human body sensor.
Which automatically emits different brightness levels according to the distance of the human body without adjusting through the app.

Conclusion:
Installing solar-powered lights with batteries is the ideal solution for businesses that need outdoor lighting at night. It is a cost-effective solution that requires no ongoing maintenance.
Furthermore, it is an environmentally friendly solution that ensures an uninterrupted power supply.
