How many solar panels do I need for 1mwh-3mwh ESS?

PVMARS offers 50W-600W solar panel models, with 550W being the most popular choice.

We will design a complete solar energy storage system based on your project installation area, power demand, budget, etc.

We need to consider that while solar panels charge the energy storage system, they also need to provide electricity during the day.

Therefore, PVMARS recommends that a 1MWh energy storage system be equipped with 500kW solar panels, and the calculation is as follows:

  • You have a 550W solar panel and average about 4 hours of sunlight per day.
  • Your community will likely need 1MWh = 1,000,000Wh at night
  • Number of solar panels required = 1,000,000 Wh / 4 hours = 250,000W / 550W = 454.4
  • 454 x 550W solar panels can meet 1MWh energy storage needs

Maintenance and support


Commercial solar systems are maintenance-free. Regular cleaning of the solar panels (3-6 months) and vacuuming the dust inside the inverter can keep it working for you.

For customers with close cooperation, PVMars will conduct expert return visits (such as visits to the installation site for inspection) regularly every 3-6 months.

If you have an installation team, we provide free online and offline training.
